When Marco saw an ad for Stock Navigators, it had exactly what he was looking for to begin his trading journey, like a comprehensive course and a community of fellow students. Just one small problem: the course was in English, while Marco only spoke French. 

But this didn’t deter Marco in the slightest. In fact, he took this as an opportunity to learn how to trade AND speak English. And he did just that. Marco is now fluent in both, being able to more than double his account size in less than a year and fully converse with our CEO about it.

Marco's Story

Marco knew that trading was the path he wanted to take to achieve his financial freedom, but it was something that continued to get derailed. Originally from Chile, Marco spent most of his childhood in Montreal, where he still lives today. This might be the reason he’s always been somewhat of a globetrotter. 

Because of this, Marco started his own company in global business and affairs. However, his home remained in Canada and he never had the need to learn a language besides French. That is, until he got the urge to start trading.

At first, Marco started trading in 2016, but this was the same year that he started his company, which he decided to dedicate all of his time to. Then in May 2020, with his business fully off the ground, Marco decided to pursue learning the stock market once again.

“I started [trading] in 2016. And I started to love all the charts, but I knew nothing about the markets or stocks or anything like that. Nothing.”

That’s when Marco was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad featuring Tom Luong, our head trader. He decided to reach out to our team and after hearing more, Marco decided that the Stock Navigators course was the one for him. The only issue? The course wasn’t being offered in French and Marco didn’t speak English. 

But Marco took this on as a challenge. He joined the course in May 2020 and used Google translate on every single video in the course! Then he interacted with the community, slowly picking up more and more English as he went along.

“You learn English and you know how the money works. That’s fantastic.”

Today, Marco has become a successful stock trader and fluent English speaker, leading to a bigger impact on his life than he could have ever imagined. 

How Stock Navigators Changed Marco’s Life

It took him 5 months, but by the beginning of October 2020, he was finally starting to trade successfully with real money. Plus, he was even starting to speak English with his girlfriend.

Marco achieved this feat all by dedicating himself fully to the course, going through and translating every piece of material we offer, and interacting with Tom and the rest of our community.

“I’m not a pro...but, oh my god, I can read the chart like a musician reads the music.”

This determination has paid off. With binders full of our translated lessons and a stack of notebooks documenting his past trades, Marco has only improved since October 2020. 

He also explained that when he trades, it’s more about the percentage of growth than the money itself. But he did want to have something to work towards: creating a more financially secure future for himself and his family. 

And that’s exactly what he’s done. Marco explained his first account was a joint savings account that he shared with his girlfriend. He told us how he took that $45,679 and turned it into over $102,000, DOUBLING their savings in less than a year.

“It’s the beginning. So I imagine myself in 3 years or 5 years or 10 years and I don’t know. But one thing I know is that when I’m old, I’m going to have enough money for my retirement, my whatever, because that’s money I don’t use every day.”

Now, Marco knows this money will be there when he needs it, whether that’s for retirement, an emergency fund, or just to have a rainy day fund. But, much like with his business, this didn’t come without patience and discipline.

Marco’s Advice To Others

It’s no exaggeration to say that Marco’s journey was harder than most of our students. Having to learn trading in a different language is no simple task. But it goes to show that if Marco can, it’s possible for anyone to become a successful trader as well.

Through his journey, he picked up some tips and tricks along the way. One of the most valuable things Marco believes a new student can do is to continue to learn every day. Even after completing the course and starting to trade full-time, he spends about an hour each day going through a section of the material.

“Discipline is so important. That’s the thing, don’t quit. And discipline is the key. And learn. Don’t stop learning.”

Equally important is learning from the community and the additional resources within the program. Marco, being in a different time zone and working full-time, couldn’t attend any of the Q&A calls. But he would diligently watch the recordings afterwards to learn from them.

Furthermore, he would pay attention to the trading community discussion board. Marco was still getting a grasp of the language, so he would translate other students’ posts to learn from the community of like-minded traders to improve his own craft.

“You guys [at Stock Navigators] do something amazing. You are there for the community, people can talk, you help people. It’s easy for people.”

So how would Marco describe the course? Well, whenever people ask him about trades or anything related to the stock market, he tells them there is only one place to go: Stock Navigators.

“Thank you guys. The program is amazing.” Marco told us in his closing remarks. He also said that if we ever decide to offer the course in French, he had us covered. Thank you Marco, we might just have to take you up on that one day…
